As a Training Specialist within the Performance Improvement team, you will act as the central contact and subject matter expert to provide oversight, guidance & specialist expertise to support the implementation & management of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) at Hartlepool.

You will be responsible for ensuring training process governance standards are met in accordance with Site Licence Conditions.

Training Specialists within the Performance Improvement team are focused on continuous assessment & improvement of processes & behaviours in support of station business. As a member of the Performance Improvement team, the Training Specialist will work directly for the Training Group Head with responsibility for overseeing delivery of training standards and will be the subject matter consultant for instructor training programmes.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Provide station-wide specialist expertise to support the implementation and management of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Work closely, and in support of the Training Group Head, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Training Programme Owners, Training Instructors & Committee Members, Station Departments & Central Support Functions & Improvement Programmes.
  • Drive accountability for the functioning, effectiveness, productivity & output quality of station Training Programmes.
  • Continually monitor station training performance.
  • Assist in Benchmarking and the production of quarterly health reports & Self Assessments that reflect the current state of Training Programmes & improvement plans.
  • Prepare, deliver & observe training sessions.
  • Support, advise & mentor Training Instructor development.
  • Seek out opportunities for performance improvement through the effective use of training.
  • Who you are…

  • Strong understanding of training processes within a highly regulated industry.
  • A positive attitude and ability to develop and maintain respectful relationships is key to this role.
  • Good analytical skills and an ability to think independently to identify trends, behaviours and insights that could be effective at helping the organisation recognise and drive improvements.
  • Advocate of continuous improvement; helping the station to get better though change activities.
  • You will have a minimum of a HNC qualification with experience of implementing adult education theory & practice.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to give advice on best practice and procedures.
  • You will be driven, organised and can multi-task, manage priorities and work well independently, plus have the capability to influence without direct authority and using your own initiative.
  • Being proficient with Site Licence Conditions, experience, and knowledge of the systematic approach to training and experience working in collaboration with senior leadership teams would be desirable.
  • NVQ4 in training and development, or similar would be advantageous for this role.
