Role: Technical Writer

Full time / Permanent

We deliver our best in-class asset and resource management software and consultancy services to a wide set of clients across multiple sectors.

In this role you will primarily be responsible for delivery of technical documentation for both the company and clients including user manuals, technical training presentations and technical maintenance documents whilst ensuring statuary compliance and adherence to the ARMS QMS standard. You will receive full training and development to become a technical expert within this industry.

This role would ideally suit a Technical Author / Writer with an engineering background looking to join a market leading company, where you will receive full training and development, whilst progressing into a senior role.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Produce and maintain clear, concise, consistent documentation and supporting content for engineering and automation equipment for both our clients and internal teams.
  • Use data-driven metrics, customer feedback and team projects to continually improve documentation and best practices.
  • Support and collaborate with other parts of the organisation as they develop and deliver content for customers, partners, and employees.
  • Become a subject matter expert for the areas you work on.
  • Review and proofread others work.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Work independently while gathering information from a variety of team members. This will include visiting customer sites, participating in meetings, examining design documents, and watching engineering teams.
  • Manage a large portfolio of diverse writing projects.
  • Develop and deliver a consistent format and cohesive voice across all departments, content, and documentation platforms.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Proven Technical writing experience for software & hardware such as help instructions, user guides, release notes, and tutorials, according to accepted industry standards.
  • Impeccable written English, and the ability to write consistently and concisely in accordance with a style guide.
  • Ability to organise content clearly.
  • Proven experience in working directly with development teams.
  • Ability to understand technical information and to be able to explain it clearly and simply to an end-user.
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines, across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand different requirements from different stakeholders and adjust approach accordingly.
  • Ability to translate processes into workflows and document interfaces with other processes and business functions.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent or experience in software development/implementation ideally within Automation.
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s including English, Maths and Sciences.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NC/HNC/HND in electrical/mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarisation with asset management software such as CMMS, CAFM or EAM solutions (not essential).
  • Background in Electrical, Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Warehousing, or Logistics.

Requirements

Candidate must be eligible to work in the UK and possess a full clean UK driving licence.

Hybrid – Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to visit customer sites to see/understand work content relating to the requirements of the technical writing role. Working hours will be typically 08:00-16:30 but some flexibility will be required when needed.
