VCAD is seeking a Student Support Officer to join our Manchester campus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our students throughout their academic journey.

The role requires an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description:

The Student Support Officer is the primary point of contact for students.

They provide comprehensive support and guidance to a diverse community of students throughout the lifecycle of their university journey.

The Student Support team plays a critical role in helping students thrive academically, emotionally, and personally.

Reports to: the Student Support Manager, and the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to students in areas such as academic progress, personal issues, and career guidance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for students via email, phone, and in-person enquiries
  • Answering enquiries and providing information, abiding by the universities policies and procedures
  • Managing student attendance and absences as per the universities policies
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to identify and address student concerns, and provide feedback on academic progress
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student information
  • Providing regular and accurate reports to the university and partner universities
  • Organise and facilitate events and workshops aimed at promoting student engagement and enhancing the student experience
  • Monitoring and tracking student attendance, academic progress, and behaviour, and intervene where necessary
  • Enrolling and withdrawing students through the administration system
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of support services and policies
  • Ensure continuous delivery of quality service, acting as a representative of the university

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in a similar role within a higher education institution
  • Excellent customer service skills, and communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by students in higher education and an ability to provide appropriate support
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge in Microsoft Suites
  • A commitment to upholding the school's values and policies
