Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within established frameworks for lesson planning, student behavior, and assessment.
  • Lead and develop all aspects of SEND within the Academy.
  • Assume responsibility for the SEND department in the absence of the SENDCo.
  • Provide leadership and direction to department members.
  • Play a key role in staff appraisal.
  • Arrange cover and ensure suitable work during absences.
  • Deputize for the SENDCo in implementing the SEND policy.
  • Identify children for whom EHCPs may be necessary.
  • Optimize existing resources within financial constraints.
  • Provide accurate self-evaluation related to pupil outcomes.
  • Lead SEND support in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Monitor and track student progress across Key Stages.
  • Support curriculum leaders in teaching strategies and intervention.
  • Assist in provision mapping for the Inclusion department.
  • Track academic targets for SEND pupils.
  • Ensure tailored provision for individual student needs.
  • Keep parents informed of SEND student progress.
  • Stay informed about subject area developments."
