Vulnerable children in the UK need your help.

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK. Last year, we helped more than 671,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

We are passionate about providing short breaks to children aged 0-19 with disabilities and additional needs in our community and residential services in Buckinghamshire. Our community short breaks service provides activities through evening youth clubs and sessions at weekends and during school holidays alongside three residential homes that offer overnight stays. Our aim is to give every child customised opportunity to have fun, build skills and promote independence at their pace, underpinned by a welcoming, responsive and skilled administrative team that supports our staff, families and partners.

As a Senior Volunteer Coordinator

  • You will be developing meaningful volunteer roles, consulting with colleagues, children and young people across our community and residential services and recruit and engage suitable volunteers, working effectively within safeguarding policy and procedures.
  • You will be able to demonstrate experience of working in the voluntary sector alongside excellent communication, interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
  • You will be coordinating the development, delivery and organisation of a training programme for volunteers ensuring compliance with induction requirements, provide supervisions and establish suitable volunteer retention practices to ensure volunteers feel valued, included and informed.
  • You will be establishing links with internal and external organisations, offer advice and information to potential volunteers and provide reports on the volunteering programme activities, outputs and impact.

We are looking for people who will instil a culture of continuous improvement through dialogue with colleagues, young people, parents and professional colleagues to ensure volunteers are supported to achieve the best outcomes for children, ensuring their safety and engagement whilst in our care.

If you are Passionate, Ambitious, Collaborative and Inclusive then we would love to hear from you.

Diversity, equality, and inclusion

At Action for Children, we're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic, and disabled candidates as they are under-represented within Action for Children. We want to take deliberate and purposeful action to ensure equal opportunity to all groups in society and for Action for Children.

Male staff are under-represented within our Children Service roles. We would like to encourage more male applicants for our Children Service roles.

Don't meet every single requirement?

If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the job description, we'd love you to apply anyway. You might just be the perfect person for this role, or another role within the Action for Children family.
