Senior Creative Artworker in Birmingham

ROLE OVERVIEW

As part of our integrated Studio, Senior Creative Artworkers oversee various corporate communication projects, including print, interactive PDFs, presentations, online content, and branding assets.

This role requires regular interactions with clients and colleagues, and the ability to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.

With extensive software, digital and print knowledge, you'll deliver high-quality work to deadline with an exceptional eye for detail, strong creative layout skills, and meticulous adherence to brand guidelines and process standards.

Effective communication is paramount, as you engage with stakeholders, offering agile, solution-focused approaches.

You’ll be a critical thinker who will seek to understand the work you’re delivering in order to improve it.

In quieter periods, you’ll work to develop your own skills, support the development of others, drive innovation, explore and test new technologies, and continuously aim to improve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meticulously prepare artwork files, with a strong focus on typography and tables, creating new layouts, and developing designs while maintaining creative integrity.
• Lead and manage a portfolio of multiple projects, collaborating effectively with all stakeholders.
• Drive project delivery, with a focus on quality, accuracy and meeting deadlines, taking full ownership and maintaining accountability.
• Prepare and document project updates, addressing potential issues, and offering innovative solutions to challenges.
• Prepare and configure clients’ self-edit service, including training and customer support.
• Ensure coherence in project design, flow, build and branding.
• Guide and support project delivery for freelancers or less experienced team members.
• Contribute to and supportive of innovation initiatives.
• Support the training and development of colleagues.
• Lead documentation of department processes, staying informed on trends.
• Collaborate with other departments, offering mentorship and proactive support.
• Build interactive PDFs and PowerPoint presentations in collaboration with the Creative team.
• Sign off studio artwork, being accountable for quality control.
• Escalate issues and identify delivery risks promptly.
• Provide excellent service, resolving queries and finding solutions.
• Adhere to business processes, housekeeping, and workflows.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar environment, ideally with experience of working with long documents and/or corporate communications.
• Qualification in Graphic Design/Visual Communications or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of artwork techniques, print, and digital PDF processes, using a structured and methodical approach.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to keep track of multiple activities, prioritise and efficiently switch between tasks.
• Familiarity with simple coding (GREP, HTML, CSS) is advantageous.
• A creative thinker with a good eye for design and layout.
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience of InCopy is advantageous.
• Confident and clear communicator, both with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Established collaboration skills, able to build long term relationships with clients and colleagues.
