Purpose of the Role

As Senior Buyer you will be based in our Solihull office with the opportunity to have hybrid working. The Senior Buyer will arrange the supply of products and services with a view to complying with the Purchasing process, the Purchasing policy and supplier commitments and contracts. Working in Collaboration with the procurement network in the UK and Europe EMEA of the wider Bouygues Group.

The role will involve procuring materials, plant, sub-contract, and services requirements across all business units. The primary focus is to maximize the use of existing and new framework agreements for use by Colas Limited. Supporting the development and implementation of effective strategic procurement solutions to benefit Colas in terms of process optimization, innovation, and carbon reduction solutions. Ensuring procurement is carried out in compliance with Colas Limited governance and procurement processes and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

As Senior Buyer, you will deliver procurement tenders on time, in compliance with requirements & in budget to Maximise the procurement coverage and savings. The Senior Buyer will also r eview and approve procurement requests from COUPA in compliance with Colas Limited governance and procurement processes & procedures. You will also l ead some specific procurement category across Colas ltd (strategy production & implementation follow-up and supplier relationships)The role of Senior Buyer will also i mplement existing framework agreement & proposing additional agreement beneficial to the whole of Colas ltd or specific project needs and so urce of low carbon solution (process improvement, low carbon product) and ensure their testing & implementation on site.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a buyer or senior buyer in a similar role, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industry and be familiar  with Procurement ERP systems (e.g., COUPA, SAP, Oracle, etc.). You will also have e xcellent negotiation, contract management and problem solving skills.

 A salary of £40k and £50k per annum depending on experience.

Colas provides aggregates, emulsions, asphalt mix and packed bitumen products, as well as a comprehensive range of quarry binders, surface dressing binders, bond coats and coated stone from our quarries around the UK.

Street Lighting
Our expertise in installation and maintenance helps improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs. We currently operate lighting contracts for major county and city councils, replacing sodium lanterns with highly efficient LEDs realising significant cost savings.
