Job overview

The primary purpose of the post is to provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support to functions within Research and Innovation including: supporting research study set-up and delivery; supporting events management; monitoring finance, rostering, and training systems; and general administrative and secretarial tasks. This role will be based across the three primary R&I locations: Rico House (Prestwich), Harrop House (Prestwich), and Rawnsley Building (Oxford Road Campus).

The post involves use of IT skills (MS Office 365), including the maintenance of databases, competency with Word, Excel and Windows features, use of e-mail (Outlook), the internet, and the Trust electronic patient records system (PARIS).

Fixed Term Contract or Secondment. Up to hours per week (Part Time considered) 6 months in first instance

Main duties of the job

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of individuals and groups including researchers, professionals, service users and managers.

Provide up-to-date research information to Directorates and Service Leads 

Liaise with services across the Trust to support them in understanding the importance of recruiting to studies and provision of information in a suitable format.

Communicate with patients/service users sensitively as required.

Liaise with research networks regarding recruitment data and targets.

Liaison with the Clinical Research Delivery team and the Research Office as required.

Liaise with study contacts concerning the upload of recruitment data to the CPMS and LPMS databases.

Communicate with a range of staff at all levels.

Respond to queries from service users involved in research studies. Co-ordinate and facilitate the dissemination of information to and from the team.

Assist in production of R&I publications to help promote research, increase

Assist with arranging conferences, seminars, workshops and training events 

To prepare any conference & workshop material an

Advertise events by various methods in a suitable manner

Organise venues and catering.

Co-ordinate bookings/registration processes for conferences and other events

Liaise with presenters and delegates

Attend and service events.

Assist in conducting audits 

Assist in conducting any Research Unit audits as required

Assist in surveys .

    Education/Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Recognised competency-based level 3 qualification in a relevant subject ( NVQ, RSA), or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Educated to GCSE/O Level standard or equivalent, including English Language
  • Recognised good qualification in IT (ECDL, RSA, CLAIT, etc)
  • Desirable criteria

  • Administrative qualification/training/ experience ( RSA III, RSA Diploma, NVQ in Business Administration or equivalent)

  • Ability to travel as there is a frequent requirement to travel to different Trust sites and within the North West area to attend meetings, attend R&I events, promote the FAIR process, and activities relevant to the role.
