Job Purpose

The Project Quality Manager will fulfil a key and critical role, liaising with clients, JV partners, suppliers, subcontractors and certifying authorities as required and supporting management in all matters related to Quality. You will develop, maintain, and verify implementation of the project quality assurance programmes/plans and establish QMS processes.

THIS ROLE WILL REQUIRE CLIENT INTERVIEW AND ACCEPTANCE. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct quality activities, communicating with engineering, procurement, and construction, admin services, test, operations and other project personnel to ensure management goals and objectives are met.
  • Coordinate the preparation and establishment of the Quality Plan and Assurance Plan within the project.
  • Train quality assurance personnel assigned to the project.
  • Supervise and participate in the project auditing programme to verify the effectiveness of the project quality plan.
  • Maintain client liaison and communication for project quality assurance related activities.
  • Represent the project(s) during quality assurance audits conducted by the client, management, or regulatory agencies.
  • Review project schedules for quality related activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project quality programme/plan.
  • Identify quality problems, initiate documented action and verify implementation of solutions.
  • Forecast quality assurance job hours and monitor charges to the project quality assurance budget.
  • Initiate project quality assurance staffing requirements and budgets for approval.
  • Provide work assignments to project quality assurance personnel and prepare reports on the effectiveness of the project quality management system implementation.
  • Proactively interact and informally influence department managers to ensure that Quality matters are effectively managed according to Technip standards and expectations. 
  • Promote a Quality culture in the office, ensuring implementation of best practices and continuous improvement of Technip Energies standards and systems. 
  • Provide training & awareness on quality activities. 
  • Ensure proper implementation of criticality rating system and surveillance for procured items. 
  • Help in defining project objectives and metrics (KPI), ensure reporting is in place, analyse performance, propose corrective or improvement actions and reports. 
  • Lead or participate in investigations to resolve quality issues, conducting root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions and ensuring they are effectively executed. 
  • Ensure that a system is in place whereby only approved suppliers and sub-contractors are used 
  • Act as the focal point for regulatory communications pertaining to quality activities.
  • Continuously review, update and create procedures for all quality related tasks.
  • Ensure that all new employees within the office and/or on site have the necessary quality induction / awareness training.
  • Typical background and experience required

  • Extensive experience in petrochemical and related industries. 
  • Previous experience as Lead Engineer on major projects.
  • Alternatively, extensive experience and superior expertise in a specialized subject or related industry.
  • Experience gained within an Equipment Manufacturing or Operating Company is seen as an advantage.
  • A thorough working knowledge of package equipment for various applications.
  • Knowledge of requirements of other disciplines involved in the procurement, design, and installation of equipment.
  • Commercial awareness to ensure economic and safe selection of equipment.
  • Familiarity with European, American, and international standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Membership of the CQI or equivalent
  • IRCA Registered Lead Auditor or equivalent
  • Significant experience of at least 10 years in heavy industrial or engineering projects
  • Both FEED and EPC experience 
  • Experience:

  • Technical knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, inspection, testing, certification or operation practices, sufficient to comprehend specified requirements is desired.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university is desired. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards related to piping installation and testing, welding and equipment installation and testing is highly desired (ACI, ASTM, API, ANSI/ASME, AWS, ASNTC-1A, NACE, IEEE, etc).
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with others is required.
  • Candidates must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications and review and comment on documents generated.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 10005, ISO 10006 criteria is required.
  • It is essential that applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
