Role of the Quality Manager

The role of the Quality Manager is critical in ensuring that Verlume’s products and services meet consistent standards of quality. You will be a focal point in the team, providing both administrative and hands-on quality management and support across several business areas. It is a varied and interesting role with scope to grow as the business grows. From supporting projects, to supporting procurement and system builds, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Verlume continues to deliver high quality products and services. You’ll work with team members across all areas of the business and be involved in a variety of initiatives. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities

As the Quality Manager you will be responsible for:

• Developing, implementing and maintaining quality processes and procedures in line with industry best practice and national/international standards.
• Implementing an annual audit schedule and performing regular internal audits/health checks in line with the schedule .
• Prepare and facilitate annual quality management reviews in line with the requirements laid out in ISO 9001.
• Generating reports for management review, highlighting key quality issues and recommendations for improvement.
• Monitoring production processes and implementing improvements to drive efficiencies while ensuring quality standards are met.
• Conducting inspections to verify compliance while proactively identifying quality issues early and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Ensuring Verlume complies with national and international standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Preparing for and managing external audits and certifications.
• Working closely with Procurement department to evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure materials and components meet the required quality standards.
• Perform document reviews for procured goods and services to verify compliance with the Purchase Order requirements
• Overseeing product testing procedures to ensure products meet required specifications.
• Maintaining detailed records of quality control tests and inspections.
• Proactively raise, conduct root cause analysis, manage and facilitate closure of Non-conformances and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA)
• Working closely with HSE to align quality, safety and environmental standards.
• Providing training and development opportunities to ensure the team is skilled and knowledgeable in quality practices.
• Drive a positive Quality culture within Verlume.

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and behaviours:

• ISO 9001:2015 Lead Quality Auditor
• Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings
• Extensive experience in a similar role, covering both Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• Experience of working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to management and liaising with suppliers and customers.
• Ability to hold others accountable for maintaining quality standards
• Ability to effectively convey complex quality issues and solutions.
• Ability to analyse data and identify trends or issues that impact product quality.
• Attention to detail to ensure all products meet quality standards.
• Thorough documentation and record-keeping.
• Ability to drive a culture of quality throughout the organisation.
• Ability to implement effective corrective actions and preventative measures.
• Lean Six Sigma Qualified (preferred but not essential)
• Root Cause Analysis Qualified (preferred but not essential)
• Incident Investigation Qualified (preferred but not essential)
