The

Procurement Assistant

will play a key role in the Project’s sourcing capabilities and supply chain. The role holder will be responsible for finding and evaluating suppliers, products, and services, and acquiring the most cost-efficient and timely deals without compromising on quality.

Main duties will include:nAssist in developing and implementing a purchasing strategy for the project, in alignment with the Company's business strategy.nChallenge, enhance and standardise existing procurement practices to ensure conformity of approach, generate economies of scale and deliver better value for money.nTake responsibility for placing site purchase orders.nProcure suppliers, including negotiating and agreeing contract terms and conditions.nCultivate good working relationships with suppliers, using influencing and negotiating skills to secure best value outcomes.nCarry out regular meetings with all internal and external parties, ensuring any disputes are resolved in a timely fashion.nEnsure suppliers are following the relevant project requirements, using the relevant standards and contract technical specifications requirements.nEnsure suppliers are following all relevant employer, legal and regulatory requirements.nClarify with suppliers, and any other party, any uncertainty that may arise concerning the scope of the works and request or approve changes to the scope as necessary.nEnsure purchase orders are prepared and monitored in accordance with the Contract and Project Quality Management System requirements.nProvide the necessary liaison and co-ordination between the Financial and Commercial Departments and any other relevant departments on the project.nCo-ordinate interfaces with other department managers and with stakeholders, vendors, suppliers and subcontractors.nPrepare the prequalification documents, the material approval submittals and the equivalent alternative proposal when required.nPrepare and manage the samples submittals.nLiaise with applicable legal and regulatory entities and follow the BREEAM requirements.nBuild good working relationships with all staff of those working within the project, help to motivate them and develop their understanding of procurement.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIAnBachelor’s Degree in Business Management / Engineering or equivalent.nANDnMinimum of 2 years of Procurement experience in a similar role.

ORnMinimum of 7 years of Procurement Management experience in a similar role.

In addition to the above:nAccreditation from Supply Chain industry organisation (CIPS or equivalent).nExperience of procurement in building projects.nExcellent verbal & written communication skills with an ability to communicate with people across a wide range of business functions.nDemonstrable problem-solving abilities.nExcellent influencing and negotiating skills, with the capacity to wield authority and secure best value outcomes.nAbility to work independently or as part of a team.nExperience of shaping both the procurement and commercial strategy of the organisation.nKnowledge of procurement procedures and practices, including aspects of negotiation and contract law, as well as a dexterity in reading the market.nProven experience in the development and implementation of procurement and supply chain tools, techniques and practices.nDemonstrated track record of delivering results and achieving cost savings and improvements in other supply chain metrics.nSkilled in managing stock levels.nProven capability in ensuring working capital levels are in line with business plans.nAbility to work under pressure, manage conflicting demands, assess priorities and proactively work to ensure the timely completion of tasks.nExperience working in a multidisciplinary project team environment.nProficient with computer software, including the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Outlook and Excel.
