The Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Group Finance team with producing high-quality financial reports, maintaining strong internal controls, and business partnering with the wider business to enable the execution of our strategy. This is a new role, which will be part of the Costs reporting team, and will report to the Group Costs Reporting Manager.

This role will develop a strong relationship with key stakeholders including, the wider Group finance team, the Commercial finance team, Tax, and Company secretariat to produce insightful management and statutory reports, and ensure timely and accurate posting of accounting entries.

• Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

The Team:

The Group Costs Reporting team is part of the Group Finance team at Landsec, and consists of two management accountants, and a Group Costs Reporting manager reporting to the Head of Costs Reporting. The team is responsible for the financial reporting and control of our cost base – including budgeting, forecasting and monthly actuals reporting. The team work closely with various budget holders, including Cost Centre managers, and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

What you will be responsible for:

• Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, for example, prepayments and accruals.  
• Reviewing and accounting for business rates and JV Asset management fees through liaising with third parties, arranging payments, preparing, and posting month-end journals;
• Providing high-quality financial reports on variances to budget, identifying any financial risks and comment on monthly movements, to internal stakeholders.
• Internal ad-hoc requests and queries on direct costs, including responding to internal and external audit queries.
• Develop and improve existing processes, such as monthly journal processing and fund requests.
• Support transformation activities as we establish new ways of working, improving both reporting process and outputs.
• As and when required, the role will also support the Statutory reporting team in the production and filing of statutory accounts for subsidiary and joint venture companies.  This will include internal liaison (tax department, company secretariat, service charges) and external liaison (auditors) ;

Your skills, experience and qualifications:

Essential

• Partially qualified accountant
• Highly numerate with accounting and reporting skills
• Experience of effectively communicating with people in different situations, using a range of tools and techniques
• Ability to demonstrate an eye for detail, producing work to a high degree of accuracy
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to present financial information in a clear manner.

Desirable

• Experience of working in real estate
• Interest in the real estate and/or retail/office industries and the wider UK economy
