In this role, you will ensure the timely and effective delivery of IT projects, work packages and minor changes across multiple lines of business.

This will include planning and controlling technology projects but also working in a hands-on capacity with both IT professionals and colleagues across the business. 

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of project delivery teams, typically around 20 people, in a matrix management environment.
  • Liaise with other subject matter experts, both internal and external, to ensure the solutions delivered align with our IT strategy and standards.
  • Forecast and control costs, typically up to a value of £10m.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in project planning and implementation approaches, as well as governance and control.
  • What you'll need

  • Sound knowledge of industry best-practice project management standards and tools, including Microsoft Project or similar.
  • Good knowledge of IT design, build and test standards.
  • Experience with process improvement and driving change.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate complex IT concepts or issues into business language.
  • A sound understanding of business analysis, change and process mapping.
  • A track record of leading and managing medium to large IT projects.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workloads across multiple concurrent activities.
  • Detailed knowledge of creating and maintaining plans and backlogs.
  • A sound understanding and application of risk and issue management.
  • Advanced facilitation and communication skills.
  • Good influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • IT project management accreditation, such as PRINCE2, APM or MSP.
  • A degree in a related subject is desirable.
