The Individual Giving Manager is a key role in RBLI’s fundraising team and is instrumental in delivering our ambitious plans to grow our individual giving programme.

We expect this group of supporters to diversify our income streams and to provide vital and sustainable funds for our work.


We are looking for someone who can lead on the strategic development and management of all individual giving income streams.

The Individual Giving team has been testing campaigns to recruit new supporters who will make donations, become Tommy Club champions and will leave a gift in their Will.

The Individual Giving Manager will build on this activity and will lead on creating engaging communications for these individuals to encourage loyal and long-term support.

The postholder have responsibility for setting income and expenditure budgets along with KPIs and for reforecasting.


The postholder will come with a broad range of experience who can help us optimise our campaigns.

You will lead on the development, planning, and delivery of the Individual Giving programme that includes appeals resulting in one off and regular giving, growing our Tommy Club community as well as income from tribute funds, in memoriam and gifts in Wills.


Key Responsibilities Your Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Director of Fundraising develop a multi-year individual giving strategy to grow our donor base and to deliver transformative levels of income to the charity.
  • Develop, embed and strengthen RBLI’s one off and regular giving income through supporter recruitment and developing supporter journeys.
  • Produce annual income and expenditure budgets and plans for individual giving.
  • Reforecast income and expenditure and make recommendations for improving performance.
  • Report on Individual Giving KPIs each month
  • Implement effective segmentation so supporters receive appropriate and relevant communications.
  • Create outstanding stewardship plans for our supporters including one off and regular givers and Tommy Club Champions.
  • Further develop our legacy programme to promote this form of giving, build a group of legacy prospects and produce excellent communications to deliver long-term legacy income
  • Further develop our in memoriam and mid value programmes
  • Use a data driven approach to create fundraising insights for new and existing appeals and campaigns
  • Ensure our supporters receive excellent donor care and stewardship
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all supporter communications are consistent with RBLI’s brand tone and voice
  • Line manage the Individual Giving Executive ensuring the postholder is motivated to meet annual objectives and to deliver agreed activities
  • Manage the suppliers and agencies that support the individual Giving programme so they meet the agreed Service Level Agreement.


Essential Requirements ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Demonstrable success in growing income across multiple streams with a wide range of activities, campaigns and appeals
  • Track record of developing supporter-focused content and products that increases reach and engagement across a wide range of viable campaigns and programmes across a variety of fundraising channels
  • Experience of setting and managing income and expenditure budgets
  • Proven experience of optimising touch points, channels and relationships to acquire new supporters, increase conversion and retention and improve supporter experience
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing successful supporter journeys to ensure smooth transition between recruitment and long-term support
  • Experience with Raisers Edge or a similar database
  • Experience of delivering creative and persuasive donor communications
  • Excellent written communications, demonstrating an understanding of house style and tone of voice
  • Proven experience of campaign management and delivery
  • Ability to drive success and inspire others to ensure relevant targets and standards are met
  • Knowledge of digital platforms and how to maximise them for the benefits of fundraising
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a busy programme to ensure the smooth running of a full calendar
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign analytics and apply insight to improve performance
  • Thorough knowledge of fundraising regulations and data protection, and best practice in capturing and recording data
