Head of Sector Marketing

Marketing Manchester has a new and exciting vacancy for a Head of Sector Marketing.

The role will lead on developing and delivering marketing strategies to support the work of Greater Manchester’s Investment Agency (MIDAS):

  • Promoting Greater Manchester (GM) nationally and internationally as a thriving location for business growth and inward and foreign direct investment.
  • Attracting businesses to relocate in GM.
  • Raise awareness of GM’s strengths in key priority sectors.
  • Promote the development opportunity that exists within GM growth areas and Investment zones.
  • You will build on existing activity and help to take our strategy to the next level in key sectors and global markets.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a place-based marketing strategy focussed on business audiences.
  • Creatively promote GM nationally and internationally.
  • Effectively work with colleagues to implement strategic marketing plans in target sectors.
  • Build a strong network of key partners in various sectors to support wider initiatives.
  • Communicate marketing insights and utilise data for marketing plans.
  • Mentor and develop a team of marketing professionals.
  • Establish the best marketing practices across the team and support colleagues when needed.

  • Must have experience developing and delivering business to business marketing strategies with impactful results.
  • Confident marketer with excellent influencing skills.
  • Can engage stakeholders at all levels with dynamic communication.
  • Resourceful manager with strong interpersonal skills, who is open and responsive with colleagues.
  • A planner with terrific organisational abilities.
  • Sharp project management skills.
  • Marketing Manchester leads the vision and strategy for the promotion and brand positioning of GM as a top world-ranked place to visit, invest, meet, live and study. In partnership with MIDAS, we enable the delivery of GM’s Local Industrial Strategy for aligned targeted inward investment and foreign direct investment (and UK relocations); promoting GM’s priority and sectors - Creative & Media, Financial Profession and Business Services, Digital & Tech, Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Net Zero. 

    You will be based at the Head Office in Manchester with agile working options.

    Please note that UK and overseas travelling will be required as part of this role.
