The role will report into the Global Design Director and COO.

The role:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, including Revit Content Specialists, BIM Managers, Design Application Specialists, and CAD and visualization experts located across all our studios.
  • Drive the development, optimization, and support of the Digital Design platform, working with internal stakeholders (IT Director, Head of Information and Knowledge Sharing, Design Directors) and external stakeholders.
  • Shape the digital development strategy, encompassing software interfaces, data-driven environments, and visualization tools.
  • Identify existing workflows across the practice and implement more efficient, cutting-edge processes for delivery.
  • Establish a digital design skills framework for Architecture, Interiors, and Masterplanning across all disciplines and global locations.
  • Embed digital design practices into departmental performance management and continuous improvement processes.

Business Liaison:

  • Ensure seamless communication and collaboration within the Digital Design team and with IT, Knowledge Sharing, and studio leads, aligning digital strategies with overall business goals.
  • Support effective knowledge sharing across the practice and maintain training and documentation strategies.
  • Guide project leaders on the optimal use of digital tools and foster skill development across teams globally.
  • Align digital design strategies with the firm’s business objectives from project procurement through to delivery.

External Relationship Management:

  • Implement and refine the practice’s strategy for Digital Design, BIM, and other specialist software applications.
  • Define and manage project-based software deliverables and monitor external consultant performance.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to develop and implement BM's digital design strategies.
  • Participate in industry networks for continuous improvement and innovation opportunities.

Budget Setting and Procurement:

  • Oversee budget planning and management for digital design technologies and tools.
  • Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to ensure procurement aligns with business requirements, and negotiate to achieve the best value for IT expenditures.
  • Manage software licensing and procurement cycles, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).

Service Management and R&D:

  • Implement Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework processes within the Digital Design team to optimize incident resolution and change management.
  • Lead research and development efforts to explore new opportunities for business improvement through digital tools.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and cyber security initiatives in collaboration with the IT Director.

Application and Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage the lifecycle of digital design applications, including specification, procurement, deployment, and support.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to ensure effective management of digital design infrastructure, including cloud services and high-performance computing.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proven track record of transforming and optimizing workflows to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Expertise in change management, guiding teams through digital transitions and embedding new practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to align cross-functional teams and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to deliver digital strategies that are aligned with both business objectives and cutting-edge industry practices.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, staying updated on the latest trends and standards in digital design and technology.
