JOB PURPOSE

The Group Financial Accountant will work within the Group finance team to support technical accounting (particularly relating to corporate restructuring activities), UK statutory reporting and the Group’s consolidated annual accounts. Experience of managing multi-currency consolidated reporting is essential, as is attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to prioritise and multi-task.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to the preparation of the year-end annual report and accounts
  • Manage and produce statutory accounts for subsidiary companies, including dealing with audits where required
  • Account for business disposals
  • Account for acquisitions, including assessing the valuation of goodwill and intangible assets.
  • Prepare Group goodwill, acquired intangible asset and holding company investment impairment reviews, ensuring cash generating units (CGU) groups are reflective of the way management currently monitors its operations, working with the businesses to ensure that management’s view on impairments is supported by the correct data, and facilitating the audit of the impairment models
  • Prepare the statement of comprehensive income and statement of changes in equity
  • Account for Group reorganisation transactions in collaboration with Tax and Company Secretarial colleagues, including detailed review of step plans and ensuring each step is executed in line with the plan and pre-requisites are met
  • Account for investments in associates, JVs and other equity investments, including reviewing for any impairments and accounting for changes in shareholding
  • Reconcile intercompany loans across the Group
  • Account for hive-ups, hive-downs and mergers
  • Pro-actively scan the horizon for changes on new accounting standards, exposure drafts and other reporting requirements, identifying the potential impacts to the Group and working with relevant colleagues to adopt required changes
  • Provide technical and accounting assistance to finance team colleagues in the brands and the shared service centre
  • Identify process improvements, automation of regular tasks and time efficiencies; and embed adoption
  • Prepare technical accounting information/memos
  • Respond promptly to ad hoc requests for information and analysis from senior management, auditors, tax, treasury, legal/company secretarial teams
  • Work closely with the Systems team to ensure that finance systems are operating effectively and deadlines are being met
  • Liaising directly with external auditors and facilitate a smooth audit process
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Consolidation experience in multinational Group of companies
  • Experience of a financial consolidation system such as Onestream or Hyperion
  • BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCES

  • Strong technical skills, particularly on IFRS, UK GAAP and Companies Act
  • Ability to use finance systems effectively to analyse large volumes of data
  • Proactive and good communication skills
  • Technically and commercially minded, professional, good communicator and capable of managing multiple tasks
  • Organised, good attention to detail and take ownership of work
  • Comfortable interacting with senior management and executives
  • Demonstrate excellence in Excel and proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
