Fundraising Manager (Maternity Cover)Location: Hybrid from our office in Stroud, GloucestershireSalary: £35,000 to £37,000 per annum (depending on experience)Role Status: 35 hours per week (12 month contract)Start Date: 16 September 2024We have an exciting opportunity for a Fundraising Manager to lead our friendly fundraising team.

Focusing on developing our Events, Community and Individual Giving income, whilst developing relationships with individuals across the UK, to raise funds and increase the profile of the charity.

About the jobLeading the Meningitis Now Fundraising team, you will oversee delivering an annual programme of fundraising and income generating activities, including an exciting national events programme, community development programme, and individual giving programme.

Supporting the team in reaching the income targets for the charity as well as delivering a strategy to grow sustainable income.

The role will have a focus on Community, Events and Individual Giving fundraising.

Involving the delivery of our national events programme, supporter organised activities and our Individual Giving Programme including direct marketing, and in memory fundraising.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the fundraising team to deliver the expected income for the charity.

The post holder will be expected to draw on their experience of developing relationships with a wide range of people to ensure that Meningitis Now is the beneficiary of choice across all fundraising activities.

Key duties and responsibilitiesDeliver an annual Fundraising operational plan and meet financial targetDeliver and develop a Fundraising strategy with the aim of growing income and the number of active supporters over timeManage the fundraising team as a whole, including Senior Fundraising Officers and Fundraising Officers with direct Line management to the Senior Fundraising OfficersEnsuring the team are well supported, motivated and have clear objectives and opportunities for personal developmentManage the team to ensure that the resources are directed to areas that will achieve the greatest return on investmentDevelop Meningitis Now’s fundraising messaging, including a consistent and compelling case for supportCreate and implement successful marketing plans using a range of communication channels to drive fundraising enquiry numbers, conversions and ultimately incomeChampion digital fundraising and lead the growth of this within the charityKeep up to date with developments in all areas of fundraising and cascade this across the charityOversee fundraising campaigns based on Meningitis Now’s core themes and valuesMake sure that all supporters are provided with the highest level of care in every communication and at all contact pointsEnsure that all fundraising events and activities are properly risk assessed and carried out safely in line with Meningitis Now standards and proceduresManage agency and supplier relationships with those who are working for the charity either on a paid or pro-bono basisDevise and use financial reporting, analytical tools and non-financial KPIs to monitor performanceKeep up to date with developments and trends in fundraising and use this insight to develop our portfolio to ensure it is engaging and competitively positionedBe an active member of the fundraising team, attending and supporting fundraising events as and when requiredEnsure that all activities are delivered safely and in line with the Fundraising Codes of Practice, GDPR and the charity’s policies and proceduresWhat we're looking forExperience of working in a fundraising or sales/marketing environment (preferably within the charity sector)Excellent proven leadership skills with experience of managing a large and dynamic hybrid teamExcellent financial planning skills and the ability to manage large and complex budgetsExperience of planning, delivering and evaluating fundraising activities and events with the aim of continuous improvementExperience of fundraising or marketing campaigns including acquisition and retention campaignsWorking with designers, copywriters, printers and mailing houses to develop and produce mailing packsDeveloping relationships with supporters who are devising and undertaking their own fundraising activitiesData Protection and Risk Assessment in charitiesLeadership – ability to bring together a group of people including senior colleagues and CEO to deliver a shared aimStrategy development and deliveryCampaign development and executionExcellent written skills – ability to tell a compelling storyStrong face-to-face interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with confidence and fluencyData curation and selectionNumeracy and attention to detailAnalytical skillsSelf-motivation and ability to work independentlyEmpathy, often working with families who have been affected by meningitisCompetency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and using databases, preferably SalesforceExperience of writing proposalsReady to apply?
