About the Team

We are the Co-ordination and Development Team within Operational Finance Delivery.

This is a busy and experienced team that plays a key role in supporting all areas of Finance and the wider Council services by supporting financial systems, processes and procedures including those which enable maintenance and operation of systems, preparation of financial information reconciliations, work and service planning, budgeting, payments, monitoring, forecasting and year end closedown

About the Role

We are looking for a part-time, Finance Assistant to join us for 25 hours during the working week (core hours 9am to 5pm)

You will be joining a proactive team and you will be involved in supporting the resolution of a variety of queries and transactional requests that arrive within the Finance inbox on a weekly basis.

This will include a variety of financial admin requests related to raising of invoices, credit notes, internal recharge processing, sundry proformas and any other adhoc task that arises.

You will be a key part of receiving and monitoring income reconciliations and working with the service and other finance colleagues to investigate issues that arise during the Financial year and at Year end.

The role will also include dealing with queries, verbally or in writing, in relation to all areas of work undertaken.

Key Requirements

A successful candidate must only be available to work the part time hours as stated above due to the nature of the role.

As you will be mostly working to resolve queries/requests of a transactional finance nature and liaising with customers you will need strong analytical and communication skills both written and verbal.

You will have the ability to work to deadlines, and under pressure, whilst always maintaining accuracy.

You need to be able to work on your own, as most of the role is working from home, whilst also showing initiative and working well as part of a team and customers.

To be considered for an interview you must be able to demonstrate good understanding of financial administration and have experience working in a similar busy finance-based environment in the past.

In addition, you must have good knowledge of using Microsoft Excel and Word in this same environment.

Experience using computer financial systems to input and obtain information would be desirable.
