Finance Assistant

Full or part time available (30-35 hours per week)

Hove with up to 3 days working from home and flexible hours

Salary £25,000-28,000


We’re working with a highly successful, privately owned financial services client on a new opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join their 5-person finance team.

My client can consider full time (35 hours) or part time (circa 30 hours) options for this position.

In addition, they offer a very flexible working arrangement with 2-3 days home working available and negotiable start / finish times.


The ideal candidate will have experience of PL, understanding of double entry bookkeeping, and intermediate level Excel skills.

Knowledge of Sage is also advantageous but can be taught on the job.

Role overview:

  • Managing the accounts payable inbox and processing invoices
  • Supplier payment runs
  • Posting all bank receipts and payments to ledger
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Managing approval and payment of staff expenses
  • Balance sheet reconciliations e.g. fixed assets, prepayments and accruals
  • Processing month end journals e.g. prepayments, accruals and depreciation
  • Assisting with preparation of management accounts
  • Other ad hoc tasks within the finance team


Ideal candidate:

  • Experience with accounts payable
  • Good understanding of double entry bookkeeping
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people across the business
  • Experience in Excel/ Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use initiative and work autonomously when needed
