This Estimating function will enable the development of a project cost from an agreed scope, for optioneering/budget setting approval.

It will also be used for benchmarking contractor’s actual costs in value-for-money statements by the end-to-end business process.

This role will mainly be focused on Sewage treatment works projects.

What you’ll be doing as an Estimating Support

  • Review of scope requirements for errors/inconsistencies and/or seek clarifications or additional information from relevant designer team.
  • Preparation of the cost estimate using the Thames water cost estimating tool or producing bottom-up costing from knowledge and/or previous experience.
  • Provide a feedback loop to the wider Estimating team on cost model strengths, weaknesses and/or improvements.
  • Assist in reviewing target cost vs final account accuracy and support a process whereby lessons are learnt for future target cost setting.
  • Assist in identifying further opportunities to improve the end-to-end process.
  • Assist in ensuring all stakeholders are actively engaged to meet agreed KPIs.
  • Provide relevant support to the Estimating Support Manager and/or the wider EES team as and when required.
  • Have a basic understanding of carbon and the impact it has on the business.

Base Location: Reading - Hybrid.

Working Pattern – 36 hours.

  • A willingness to learn and grow.
  • Self-sufficient and able to prioritise and multitask.
  • Estimating experience is desirable.
  • You will need to be a good team player.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excel experience.
  • Sewage treatment knowledge is desirable.
