Engineering Manager (Contract) in London

Role:   Engineering Manager (Contract)

This is a 3 month contract opportunity with the prospect of extension where required.

L ocation: UK (Remote-first with occasional travel to London required)

Role mission: 

As CUBE enters an exciting period of growth via two acquisitions we are looking to augment our team in order to increase capacity during the integration period. Reporting to the Head of our Consumer platform, you will help lead our talented team of C# developers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, team leadership, and project management.

Responsibilities:

- Work with the Head of Consumer Platform to set departmental objectives, prioritize, track progress and maintain alignment with broader product and technology strategy.- Supervise the planning, resourcing and execution of key Engineering initiatives.- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and represent Engineering on major product and customer initiatives and deliverables.- Drive improvement across practices (code reviews etc) and tooling to improve quality and developer efficiency.- Provide leadership and mentoring support to Team Leads.- Stay up to date with industry best practice across relevant technology, practices and tooling, and advocate for adoption where there is a valid business case.- Enhance existing coding standards and ensure they are enforced through quality reviews, training and support. - Identify opportunities to improve the SDLC process, including oversight of: Agile practices, metrics & reporting, DevOps practices and release management. 

What  we’re looking for:

- Management of software engineering teams.- Management of engineering delivery projects.- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.- Proven experience as a software engineer with: C# and .NET Core, front end technologies such as Angular, database technologies such as SQL, Elastic or document storage and as a nice to have experience with event-based systems. - Strong experience with cloud environments, Azure preferable others desirable. - Excellent project management skills and experience with Agile methodologies.- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
