The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an Energy Analyst to start their career path understanding all aspects of flexible purchasing. Understanding the full back office, policies, procedures as well as some customer interactions. This is the first step to become an energy trader / risk manager should you choose.

What is the job about?

Your role will be to input prices from suppliers for Flexible contracts and compile the price comparison document. You will be responsible for the customer energy consumption analysis and monitor actual consumption against forecasted consumption. Reconciling trades conducted and supplier position reports You will also create market reports and ad-hoc assistance of the trading team with daily, weekly and monthly market reports.

What exactly will you do?

  • Constructing the price comparison of supplier offers
  • You will input non-commodity cost forecasts for our customers which are generated through our online platform
  • Monitoring customers energy hedge position reports and transacted trades conducted by the traders.
  • Support the account management and sales departments with market analysis and supplier performance data to include in new business and renewal proposals
  • Supporting the development of systems and processes required to deliver market-leading flexible energy procurement solutions
  • Creating and maintaining strong, collaborative external and internal relationships
  • Developing and issuing market fundamental reports for daily, weekly and monthly circulation to customers
  • Presenting information on energy markets to the trading, sales teams and external clients
  • Supporting innovation within internal and external processes
  • Supporting the invoice validation of the flexible purchasing portfolio
  • What we’re looking for

  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables)
  • Clear understanding and interest in the UK energy markets.
  • Organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Highly numerate
  • A self-motivated starter and a team player
  • Confidence to challenge purchasing decisions
  • Bonus points

  • Experience in the Utilities/Energy industry
  • Python, VBA and SQL are also desirable
