Electrical Design Engineer in Filton

Akkodis is looking for an Electronics & Electrical Design Engineer to join our project teams in Bristol to support existing Landing Gear and Fuel Avionic Test Benches. This role will be hybrid with an expectation of predominantly being onsite in Filton, Bristol. We are open for this opportunity to be permanent.

Responsibilities:

• Working on larger scale electrical test rig design projects delivering a complete test rig as part of a team.
• Providing Architecture Design Solutions/ Electrical Component electrical schematics and understanding the language behind it to meet the Requirements of the test rig.
• Tackling small modifications to the test rigs to support upcoming test campaigns
• Modification to existing test rigs.
• Assessing modification requirements from design office/test team and developing a suitable solution.
• Updating or creating new wiring diagrams and wiring lists.
• Liaising with the onsite team or external supplier to implement/build the solution.
• Commissioning of the test rig design/modification solution Delivering a comprehensive report to the customer.

Participate:

• Design solutions on test rigs.
• Creation of wiring diagrams/wire lists, etc.
• Using existing test rig electrical drawings to fault find on existing rigs.
• Supporting the test benches by troubleshooting electrical issues and investigate the issue and develop a solution.
• Support the testers in carrying out certain tests with diagnostic equipment e.g., oscilloscopes, DVM's, ARINC 429 test boxes, etc.
• Design of new sub systems for test rigs.
• Assess new requirements.
• Liaise with the onsite team or external supplier to implement/build the solution.
• Commissioning of the test rig design/modification solution.
• Fully documenting and Commissioning of the solution.

Required skills:

• AutoCAD Electrical & Ki CAD or equivalent Experience (ESSENTIAL).
• Fault finding and problem solving (ESSENTIAL).
• Schaeffer Front Panel Designer Software (preferably but not essential).
• Being able to produce electrical / mechanical drawings and electrical schematics (ESSENTIAL).
• Good knowledge of communication protocols (ARINC, AFDX, ...) is a plus.
• Microsoft Visio experience (IS A PLUS).
• Understanding of Electrical Design (ESSENTIAL) and Electrical Systems.
• Understanding of Fuel and/or Landing Gear Systems is beneficial (NOT MANDATORY) – training will be provided.
• Minimum basic electronic circuit design knowledge using relay logic, diodes, resistors, capacitors.
• PC digital inputs and outputs.
• Experience working with test rigs (IDEALLY).
• Experience working with modification requirements.
• Excellent communication skills & Experience working as part of a team with the ability of working autonomously.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word (or Google Docs, Google Sheets).
