The role

Working with a team of experienced professionals to accelerate the delivery of technology automation, tooling, and cloud infrastructure to support Unity’s digital transformation.

Supporting the definition and development of Unity’s Azure cloud platform to deliver automation, tooling and infrastructure-as-code, seeing designs through from start to finish incorporating everything from technology to resilient solution designs, assurance, governance and security.

Driving the implementation of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipeline technologies within the secure development lifecycle.

Providing ongoing maintenance support and enhancement of Unity’s technology environments.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable and automated solutions.
• Design, deploy and manage cloud environments for high availability, performance, and reliability, ensuring operational resilience and security is embedded in all solutions deployed.
• Collaborate with the development and IT teams to understand infrastructure requirements and drive the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code for all cloud deployments to de-risk and build resilience.
• Lead efforts to automate CI and CD pipelines, sharing knowledge throughout the technology teams.
• Perform the technical elements of Unity’s software releases, when necessary, working closely with the technology teams and business stakeholders to automate and control all elements through effective configuration management.
• Set up and manage monitoring of cloud server and application environments.
• Work with IT Development team to embed the Secure Development Lifecycle principles into all activities carried out.
• Understand deployment scripts, debug where required and perform log analysis
• Mentor and assist developers, technical employees and other stakeholders where required to promote and support Unity’s cloud adoption.
• Automate and improve processes in line with industry best practices exploiting modern technologies to strengthen and improve our technology estate.
• Contribute to the technology selection process and make sure we use the right technology at the right time, balancing cost, benefit, and risk in decision making
• Maintain and support existing infrastructure components, ensuring high availability, resilience, performance, and scalability.
• Implement and adhere to a robust patch management process to keep systems up-to-date with the latest security updates and bug fixes.
• Review solutions and ensure that they have been designed to scale, are secure and cost effective.
• Contribute to the documentation and knowledge-sharing efforts, ensuring that operational procedures and best practices are well-documented and accessible to team members.
• Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective monitoring and logging solutions for infrastructure and applications.

Knowledge requirements (and how this is typically gained)

• Technical experience of:

Building CI pipelines for at least one of LAMP, iOS or Android stacks

using a common platform e.

Jenkins

Building and supporting platforms in public cloud services, preferably

Azure (AWS experience a plus)

Building automated testing infrastructure and tools

• Extensive systems administration of LAMP environments
• Configuration and patch management with tools such as Puppet, Spacewalk or Chef
• Building Continuous Delivery solutions using a common platform e.g. Go
• Scripting in a common language such as Bash, PHP or Python
• Source control tools such as Git / Github / Bitbucket
• Administration of and writing basic queries for common SQL platforms
• Good technical understanding of web services, APIs and microservices architecture
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and major protocols
• Implementation of redundant/high availability solutions
• Good understanding of the full software delivery life-cycle using Scrum
• Experience of working within regulatory environments /Financial Services
• Good experience of:
