Main Function of the role:

The London based Marketing & Brand function of Federated Hermes consists of content, channel marketing, digital, events, and design & production teams.

As Federated Hermes has attracted more clients, expanded its range of investment products and entered new markets, its content needs have grown.

This role provides an opportunity to help Federated Hermes promote its unique brand of investment and world-leading stewardship to professional and retail audiences in Europe, the US, Asia and Australasia.

In this role, you will work directly with investment teams and product specialists across the business to generate written, audio and visual content for clients, prospects and use in marketing campaigns.

The range of content produced includes website posts, podcasts, videos, infographics, long-form commentaries, brochures, presentations and sales literature.

This content will convey the key insights of the investment and stewardship teams in order to help increase sales, retain clients and build the external profile of the business as a global leader in responsible investment.

You will also embed corporate and product messaging in marketing and sales literature.

In executing this role, you will work in a dynamic international Content team responsible for developing the external voice and messages of our investment teams, thereby playing an essential role in sales efforts, client retention and marketing campaigns.

Key task and responsibilities:

  • Creating content alongside investment and stewardship experts, sales teams and our corporate leadership.
  • Convey and manage investment messaging so that the distinguishing characteristics of our investment teams’ philosophies, processes and value propositions are consistently embedded in content.
  • Respond to client priorities set by the Business Development team by producing timely, high-quality content to support sales efforts. Such pieces typically take the following forms:
  • Investment commentaries, including long-form thought leadership, market views and reports
  • Marketing literature, such as presentations, brochures and sales aids
  • Infographics
  • Web posts
  • Podcasts
  • VideosWebcasts
  • Other content required to support business growth
  • Help execute content strategy by producing fit-for-purpose content and consider how it can best be distributed.
  • Cultivate a rapport with portfolio managers, investment analysts and product specialists to gain a deep understanding of the respective philosophies, processes and market views of each team.
  • Develop strong working relationships with regional sales teams across both institutional and wholesale channels to ensure that content meets their needs and is delivered on time.
  • Consider how investment content can be efficiently repurposed to assist the marketing, events and press teams.
  • Assist in tracking the progress of content, assessing metrics and fostering collaboration throughout the broader Marketing team.
  • Work with production agencies to design, proofread and finalise content, and ensure that finished pieces are faithful to the corporate brand.
  • Develop and reinforce sign-off and Compliance procedures to ensure a robust audit trail of content.

Experience Required:

  • Writing skills, with experience in a writing role with a financial services organisation or as a financial journalist. Editing experience is desirable. Past experience of writing about fixed income is a pre-requisite.
  • Knowledge of equity and real-asset markets but specialism in fixed income would be desirable.
  • Robust understanding of the investment management industry and fundamental economics.
  • Proven ability to understand and articulate complex investment concepts and market events and to convey the nuance around any given investment approach or strategy.
  • Ability to undertake independent external and internal research to source information and to develop ideas.
  • Experience in data visualisation.
  • Experience of writing on both macro and thematic topics.

Candidate Profile:

  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative in originating and completing projects, and delivering to deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills. This will be essential in interacting effectively with investment professionals and key contacts at senior and junior levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A focus on quality control and attention to detail.
  • Ability to add creative input to investment commentaries.
  • Ability to undertake independent external and internal research to source information and to develop ideas.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
