The role overview:

We are an established and growing family business with an opportunity for you to join as a Commercial Manager.

As we are a small team you will gain lots of exposure with autonomy within your role. You certainly won’t find yourself only doing business as usual activity within your day to day. This is an exciting role where you have the opportunity to help develop different areas of The Config Team including our Application Management Services (AMS) & Software Product divisions. At a strategic level, this means the role has the opportunity to provide advice and influence.

This role involves developing and managing commercial propositions, leading negotiations, including customer and supplier agreements, and bid management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advisory : Provide commercial advice to the business and cover for the Lead Commercial Manager when needed.
  • Bid Management : Support RFP responses and proposal creation, ensuring high-quality and consistent submissions.
  • Negotiation : Develop strategies and lead commercial and legal negotiations.
  • Account Management : Maintain ongoing commercial relationships with customer commercial and procurement contacts.
  • SOW Production : Ensure high-quality Statements of Work and lead complex negotiations when necessary.
  • Documentation : Maintain and improve standard commercial agreements to streamline proposal development.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with various teams to create and manage costed commercial propositions in support of our business goals.

The role is suitable for somebody already operating at this level and seeking a fresh challenge or somebody looking for their next career step where they will have access to on-going mentorship and support.

Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience in a commercial role within a professional consulting or support organisation.
  • Experienced in leading negotiations and agreeing commercial terms during discussions with customers.
  • Able to manage negotiations in a fair and reasonable manner which builds trust and long-term relationships with customers.
  • Proficient in structuring commercial deals and documentation.
  • Capable of leading and adding value to complex RFP responses in professional services and AMS environments.
  • Proficient in creating and managing high-quality Statements of Work (SOWs) from proposals.
  • Able to review and critique Service Level Agreement (SLA) regimes and KPI-based contracts
