Childrens Residential Support WorkerHours: 160 as per rota per monthLocation: Wigan AreaPay Scale: £10.50 - £11.50 per hour plus sleep allowance + enhanced overtime rateResponsible to: Childrens Residential Support Worker reports to Home ManagerAbout UsWe are looking for Childrens Residential Support Worker to join our specialist team who would love to support our children (up to the age of 17 years old).Childcare qualification NVQ 3/ Diploma or equivalent is desirable but if you are not qualified, don’t worry, we will support you to achieve the Level 4 Children, Young people & Families PractitionerEquality & Diversity:All young people are equally entitled to have their needs met in a fair and balanced way. You will be responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or any other perceived difference.Duties and Responsibilities as a Childrens Residential Support Worker:Your role will include providing care for young people in the following duties:o Housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundryo Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regardo You will support the young people to ensure their physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs are meto You will act as a role model and demonstrate positive social ways of dealing with problemso Help young people to gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding positive social behaviouro Ensure that each young person’s care plan is followed and updated as appropriate to reflect their changing needsAs a residential support worker your duties will include:o You will take responsibility for a small number of young people and ensure that their needs are meto Establishing relationships which young peopleo Providing advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficultieso Providing emotional support at times of difficulty or stresso Being ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potentialo Providing support for young people in their education and hobbieso Keep accurate records and provide written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as requested by your line managero Empowering young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and futureo Acting as an advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussiono Encouraging the young person to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities and expand their personal social networkYou will work as part of a great team where we ask that you:o Be aware of the aims and objectives of the home and work together with colleagues to achieve our goalso Attend team meetings and making a positive contribution to themo Actively contribute to the development of the teamo Receive and store information in aa confidential way and always look at ways to improve communicationo Be willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managerso Be aware of childcare plans for all young people and provide support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the implementation of the planso Provide practical and emotional support to colleagues who may need your guidance and careo Attend and contribute to regular supervision sessions with your line managero You should report any concerns to your line manager if you feel there are any safeguarding concerns or issues relating to the care of our young people.
