Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board serves a growing population of over 1 million people living in areas from vibrant and diverse inner cities to rural communities and towns. Across the Integrated Care System our partners include 2 Local Authorities, 6 Councils, 4 Partner NHS Trusts, 120 GP Practices, 2 Healthwatch Organisations, 120 Dental Practices, 200 Pharmacies, 1 Ambulance Service and a thriving Voluntary and Community Sector.

Our vision as a System is to enable people to start well, live well and age well, promote independence and put people at the heart of everything we do. While we are already making real progress there is much more to be done to improve health outcomes in a challenging operating environment with significant financial, performance and workforce pressures. There are still significant health inequalities across Coventry and Warwickshire and a difference in live expectancy of 10 years between the most affluent and deprived communities. Our workforce challenges, in recruiting, turnover and absence rates create significant challenges to capacity, service delivery and staff wellbeing.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic Board as it develops its strategy to improve outcomes in population health and care; tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access to services; enhance productivity and value for money; and help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

As Chief People Officer, you will work closely with the CEO, Board colleagues and our partners to deliver the Coventry and Warwickshire (CW) Integrated Health and Care Delivery Plan. This will include interpretation and implementation of the NHS and Social Care Workforce Plans, the NHS Long Term Plan and other national strategic priorities. In addition to leading the CW People Plan, you will ensure the population remain at the heart of decision making through our work around People and Communities.

Integrated Care Systems afford the opportunity to work in new ways and focus on collaboration and partnership, not losing sight of the imperative to improve population health whilst focusing on the immediate priorities of access to care, workforce and financial challenge. This is a highly complex role and requires an influential, solutions-oriented people leader with Board-level experience. You will possess the ability to balance workforce redesign; organisational development and inclusion; education and skills development; engagement and communication; and operational HR.

If you have the skills, experience, and passion for collaborative leadership, then this is your chance to shape the future health and care for communities across our population. As a senior leader you will champion equality, diversity, and inclusion based on the belief that the best Boards are those that reflect the communities they serve.

The ICB is actively working to achieve a diverse, gender balanced and representative workforce where diversity is actively valued and celebrated, including at board level. With this in mind we welcome applicants from all backgrounds to ensure that our Board reflects the diversity of our communities and encourages diversity of thought.
