We are a British luxury lifestyle brand known for imaginative, hand-drawn prints inspired by nature.

Creations include home furnishings and accessories to spark the imagination.

We are a small but ambitious company, and want to build a global lifestyle brand.

This person will be a key part of the team, to drive the scaling-up of the business.


ABOUT THIS ROLE


Salary: £45 - £55K per annum dependent on experience


Emma J Shipley is looking for a Business Operations Manager.

This person will work closely with the CEO, and will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, overseeing multiple key functions in the business, and driving both top and bottom line growth.

This person is a highly strategic thinker, capable of quickly assessing scenarios and translating strategy into action plans.

This person has experience honing their operational, strategy, and management skills in a fast-paced start-up environment and is well-versed in how to manage complex inventory-based operations.

This person will work to ensure the entire business is operating efficiently.

They will report to the CEO and help to strategically plan and improve the present performance and future growth of Emma J Shipley.


ABOUT THE POSITION


Business Operations

  • Establish internal and external processes to meet and exceed KPIs and general business performance
  • Adhere to company, national, international, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary
  • Approach every day with a continuous improvement mindset - consistently identifying areas for improvement and putting forward recommendations


Supply Chain

  • Manage day-to-day supply chain and business operations, achieving KPIs through excellence in e-commerce, manufacturing, logistics, and customer service
  • Manage all production, liaising with multiple suppliers to achieve on-time deliveries
  • Monitor third-party business and suppliers to ensure that they are efficiently and effectively providing the needed services and supplies while staying within budgetary limits
  • Inventory management, ordering to optimise for stock levels, speed, and margin
  • Partner with internal design team on packaging development and production
  • Set environmental goals and be constantly looking to improve our carbon footprint


Sales

  • Organise the operations side of external events such as Pop-Ups
  • Plan and implement strategy to achieve wholesale targets
  • Execute wholesale sales process from initial contact through to order confirmation and delivery


Team

  • Helping to set the team structure and hire for new roles as the company scales
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organisational outcomes are met
  • Manage Customer Services team, dealing with escalations when required
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports for the CEO
  • Ensure that all staff receive appropriate training on job duties, corporate policies and applicable regulations
  • Keep Company Handbook updated
  • Ensure staff have suitable equipment, software and tools to perform their roles
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance
  • Facilities Management


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Is someone who has:

  • 5+ years of experience in either fashion, interiors, consumer products, or retail industries
  • Experience in DTC / E-commerce based business
  • At least 2 years in a management role in a high-growth organisation
  • Supply chain and manufacturing experience
  • Experience devising and implementing systems and processes
  • Excellent data analysis skills including use of Excel to a high level
  • A natural born leader. Understanding of personal leadership style and standard best practices
  • Well-rounded solid experience in commercial innovation
  • Proven background in scaling an inventory-based business
  • Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to build, lead and develop a team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate needs as well as provide the team with a clear framework of the strategic priorities
  • Working knowledge of the industry and brand landscape
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organisational, and written skills
  • Experience working with a team in a fast-paced setting
  • Interest in luxury design / interiors / and a passion for the Emma J Shipley brand


Extra brownie points:

  • Strong relationships with or knowledge of relevant suppliers
  • Experience in scaling a start up business
  • Experience of Shopify and/or CRMM software
