Assistant Finance Manager (Maternity Cover) in London

RoleOverview:

We arelooking for a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Finance Manager tosupport our finance department in managing the financial operations of ourrestaurant group. Managing two junior team members, the Assistant Finance Managerwill assist in overseeing the financial activities of our restaurant group. 

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and theability to work collaboratively with various teams. The Assistant Finance Managerwill repo rt to the Group Finan ce Manager and support all aspects of financialreporting including daily reporting, month end close, Board reporting, audit& tax and ensuring robust and effective internal controls.

KeyResponsibilities:

 - FinancialReporting: Prepare management accounts, including balance sheets and incomestatements for each restaurant entity.   Assistin the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.  Conduct variance analysis and provideinsights to support decision-making.- Accountingand Bookkeeping:   Oversee day-to-dayaccounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable. Ensureaccurate and timely posting of financial transactions. Reconcile bankstatements and general ledger accounts.- InternalControls and Compliance:   Support theimplementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.   Ensure compliance with financial regulationsand company policies.   Assist in thepreparation for internal and external audits.- Team Collaboration andDevelopment:   Work collaboratively withthe finance team and other departments.   Providetraining and support to junior finance staff.- Sales Reporting:   Reportingof daily, weekly, and monthly sales for the operating entities and licensedrestaurants. Process sales journals and sales reconciliations.  - Fixed AssetRegisters:   Maintain complete and accuratefixed asset registers.- Payroll Reporting: Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate processing of payroll journalsand reporting. Assist in reconciling payroll reports and resolvingdiscrepancies.- Compliance and Audit Support: Assist in maintainingcompliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Support internaland external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities tostreamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance controls within thefinance function. Implement best practices to optimize financial operations.

 Qualifications:  

- Bachelor'sdegree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.- Qualifiedor part qualified accounting certification with a recognised professional body.-  Minimum 3-5years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably withinthe restaurant or hospitality industry.- Strongunderstanding of financial principles and financial reporting.- Proficiencyin accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite,especially Excel.- Stronganalytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.- Excellentattention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.- Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate acrossteams.- Ability toprioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in afast-paced environment.
