We currently have an opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our team in Manchester. The role will be varied and will suit an analytical, methodical and numerically-minded individual who is friendly with a positive attitude. For this position the role will have a focus on areas covering treasury, timesheets process and month-end, requiring a high degree of accuracy and a good degree of numerical ability. The role will report to the Assistant Management Accountant and provide support with ad hoc day to day financial controls activities.


Main Duties

Treasury Process:

  • Maintain the cash book,
  • Daily upload of bank statements in the system,
  • Record miscellaneous payments,

Time sheet Process:

  • Perform the weekly timesheet process – circa one thousand timesheets
  • Perform Timesheet corrections and liaise with the business for timesheet queries
  • Responsible for actioning timesheet inbox

Month-end Process:

  • Perform cash related month end tasks (statements download; bank reconciliation; cash pooling/hedging reconciliation)
  • Support with monthly journals/reconciliations and schedules preparation work
  • Assist the wider financial controls team with ad hoc month-end tasks

Tax Process:

  • Support with VAT compliance and other ad hoc tax requirements


Other Responsibilities

  • To uphold & act in accordance with the Group’s values, behaviours & strategic objectives within the context of the duties of the post
  • To support & adhere to the Group’s policies on Equality, Diversion & Inclusion
  • To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act & associated legislation in so far as they relate to the duties of the post


Experience Required

  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel, Microsoft and experience using ERP System ideally IFS
  • Basic account qualification such as AAT level 1 or 2
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in a similar environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and a commitment to meet tight deadlines
  • Methodical and professional approach to work
