Hydraulic Modeller Water Networks

Working for a Utilities consultancy delivering a Water Network programme improving Flow, velocity and reducing leakage.

Location:- Brighton - Flexible to travel if required to visit other sites

Salary:- £45,000 - £50,000 basic

(Depends on experience within the Water sector and Stakeholder communication)

Role:

As a Hydraulic Modeller , you will be working on a transformation programme within Water Networks . Working alongside the water provider in identifying issues, looking at improvements and supporting the team in signing off on the correct solution. Assist the leakage management teams by providing hydraulic analysis that identifies areas vulnerable to leakage or other network inefficiencies. You will build and calibrate detailed hydraulic models of water distribution networks to simulate water flow, pressure, and network performance under various operational conditions.

Playing a vital role in the clean water team, you will be using your technical knowledge of Water Networks to support designing and delivering solutions. You need to understand various aspects of the Clean Water network, such as:

  • Water Flow
  • Pressure
  • Velocity
  • Transient Analysis
  • Modelling reports

The solutions will vary, but all are based on reducing Leakage across the Network.

Day to day, your role will change depending on the change programme but some of these tasks could include:

  • Analyse data on water flow, pressure, and quality.
  • Identify and report problems with the network, such as leaks, pressure imbalances, and water quality issues.
  • Identify areas of the water network that are at risk of leakage or failure
  • Familiarity with leakage detection technologies and DMA management
  • Develop and implement plans to reduce leakage and improve the reliability of the water network.
  • Work with the Programme lead to develop the right solution, including supporting the design team in designing it.
  • Look at the various methods of analysing and optimising water distribution networks. Bring new ideas and technology to the team that could automate or improve the current processes.

This role is office-based 2 days a week and 2 days from home with 1 day as a flexible day depending on what is required on the project so either home or in the office.

The perfect background would be Water experience supported by either:

  • Water Networks
  • Clean Water Modelle r
  • Network Designer Engineer (Looking to step away from design and into a consultant role)

Required Experience:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering subject
  • Experience of working in the Water sector be it water provider, consultancy or contractor
  • Driving license as you may be required to come into the office for client meetings and flexibility is important.
