An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the cardiothoracic team within the Cardiovascular Collaborative. The post holders will be based on Cardiothoracic Ward 32

The successful candidates will be required to provide clerical support to staff to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the service.

They should be well motivated, enthusiastic and willing to develop new skills. It is expected that the applicant works as part of the team; using their initiative whilst delivering an excellent standard of care and service to our client group.

Duties include:

  • To communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors and other health professionals
  • Ensuring all patient admissions, discharges, transfers are entered onto the appropriate systems
  • Locating, retrieval and booking out of medical notes and keeping notes tidy.
  • To ensure that patient medical records are accurately kept in accordance with Directorate and Trust policies and procedures
  • To work alongside other clerical staff within the collaborative to provide a high quality and efficient service sharing information as appropriate
  • Main duties of the job

    Candidates must be computer literate and experience of clerical duties and filing is essential. Professional and personal development is encouraged.

    The post holder will work per week including weekends and bank holidays. 

    The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team demonstrating a range of skills to meet the needs of the service by providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the nursing staff/ medical team.

    This post will close once sufficient applications have been received.

In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

    The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
