Transport Manager (Nights)

Skelmersdale

4 Days on 4 days off, 18:00 – 06 :00

We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager, to oversee the execution of the Transport Plan and to lead and motivate a small team. You will deliver General Haulage KPI’s to ensure customer requirements are exceeded and compliance requirements are adhered to.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of the Transport Plan through management of people, effective planning and allocation of resource to ensure delivery times are always met and 100% accuracy is achieved.
  • Ensuring operational service levels are met and exceeded through the achievement of operational KPI’s e.g., 100% on time deliveries
  • Managing various data streams to support the operation
  • Responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with external and internal stakeholders e.g., external customer, repair agents, Site Teams
  • Responsibility for holding an in-depth understanding of all commercial elements of each customer contract.
  • Have a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities applicable to your role and your teams
  • Raising competencies and performance in all areas of General Haulage activity so as to contribute to business efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage
  • Proactively manage attendance and absence levels within your team in adherence to company policy
  • Managing of all ER issues – disciplinary, grievances and absence
  • Act as a coach and mentor for your direct reports, engaging regular 1:1 support
  • Compliance with company and local statutory obligations regarding working time regulations (WTD) and operator licensing
  • Work collaboratively with all other shifts
  • Act as a key representative for the Company’s transport department
  • Support any company initiatives by promoting solutions and best practice through various forums
  • Support, assist and deputise for the Senior Operations Manager where required.
  • Operational continuous improvement
  • Support and implement company initiatives
  • Ensuring all transport operations, practices and procedures are managed in line with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and other statutory requirements, including EU Driver’s Hours Regulations
  • Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Currently operating at a similar level within Transport (Essential)
  • Strong experience in leading a team in a Transport Logistics Operations environment
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Ability to produce data and information to identify opportunities and cost saving initiatives
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good understanding of EU legislation
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of transport operations
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and ever-changing environment
