Morrison Water Services  is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor Graduate Apprentice , to work on our Caledonia Water Alliance contract.

Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA)  is a joint venture alliance between  Aecom and Morrison Water Services (MWS) , supporting the delivery of  Scottish Water’s  SR21 Capital Investment Programme.

CWA  are responsible for the delivery of a pan Scotland £700M water and wastewater infrastructure programme over a 6-year alliance framework.

As our next Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be instrumental in working on our Caledonia Water contract focusing on Measurement and Estimation. You will acquire the basic knowledge, skills and competence to enable you to work productively within the water network. The remainder of your time will be spent under supervision on site at the Caledonia Water Alliance contract.

Your remit is to learn to measure and estimate quantities of materials required for construction projects. This involves interpreting technical drawings, taking measurements on-site, and using software tools to calculate material quantities accurately. You'll also be responsible for preparing cost plans and budgets for construction projects, estimating project costs, analysing expenses, and providing cost advice to project stakeholders.

Apprenticeship Standard

Apprentices will undergo training at the CWA Stepps Office, Glasgow. Here you will acquire the basic knowledge, skills and competence to enable them to work productively within the water network. The remainder of your time will be spent under supervision on site at  Caledonia Water Alliance contract.

Apprenticeship Development Scheme in Depth

As a Graduate Apprentice within Morrison Water Services, you will undertake both a technical programme as well as our internal EU Skills endorsed Apprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS) programme.

The ADS programme is a blend of online and face to face sessions, involving the development of soft skills and being supported by mental health/pastoral care. Some elements of the scheme are residential, which will take place around England. Therefore, applicants must be prepared to travel and stay away from home.

The remainder of your time will be spent with our training provider or under their supervision on site.

Whilst on your apprentice programme, your travel to and from the providers’ locations, hotel accommodation, and all meals will be provided.
