Trainee Claims Assessor

Salary £27,000 – £32,000

A bit about the job:

We are currently expanding our team of Assessors within our Protection Claims Team. 

Our purpose is to support a portfolio of customers, helping in their time of need. 

As part of a dedicated team you will be responsible for assessing claims for Terminal Illness, Critical Illness and Death benefit applying Aviva philosophy to ensure fair customer outcomes.

You will work with our claimants and medical professionals to obtain relevant evidence to support Claims.

Part of your role will be to engage with internal and external stakeholders ensuring best practice and minimum standards are followed.

You will need to be confident and have skills to deal with difficult conversations dealing with bereavement, serious illness, complaints and potential misrepresentation of medical information.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Successfully managing relationships with customers or suppliers

  • Excellent telephony capability and written communication skills

  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills; confidently able to explain reasoning behind decisions and negotiate with customers

  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team

  • Good planning, negotiation, and organisational/time management skills

  • Starting salary between £27,000 - £32,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
