LTF Recruitment specialises in long term to permanent placements in education settings. We have partnered with an excellent secondary school located in Central Derby (DE1). The school is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support students to progress academically, by overcoming barriers to learning. This a rewarding role, with the potential to be permanent after an initial period of time.

The role/ responsibilities:

• Actively support students who are underperforming or have an identified special educational need, inside and outside of the classroom
• Provide 1-1 and small group support, understanding any needs that the students have and ensuring that they are able to access learning material
• Create and build strong relationships with the young people you work with, providing effective support and guidance
• Keep track of student progress, including keeping effective records of mentoring activities
• Communicate with other members of staff, parents and any other agencies that may be involved with students

Requirements:

• A relevant qualification/degree is desirable
• Previous experience of working with children/young people on an individual or group basis
• Awareness of/experience with special educational needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A valid DBS and two references are a requirement for this role
