SQL Server Consultant in London

New 6 month contract opportunity for a mid-senior (Inside IR35) Data Engineer to join a well-respected financial institution with immediate effect.

SQL Consultant Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to accurately represent the organization's data needs and business workflows.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for creating new data models or updating existing ones.
• Design database schemas, tables, views, and indexes to enhance data storage, retrieval, and performance.
• Apply normalization techniques to maintain data integrity and reduce redundancy, while also considering denormalization to boost query performance when necessary.
• Develop data integration solutions to ensure smooth data flow between various systems, databases, and applications.
• Implement data quality checks and validation rules to ensure the data is accurate, complete, and consistent across the organization.
• Monitor database performance and identify optimization opportunities through indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and other methods.
• Create and maintain documentation for data models, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data dictionaries, and metadata definitions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to ensure data models meet business requirements and technical constraints.
• Stay informed on emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in data modeling and database design, and proactively suggest improvements to current processes and methodologies.

SQL Consultant Required Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, designing, and developing databases.
• Skilled in SQL and various database management systems like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
• Knowledgeable in data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of converting intricate business needs into data models.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and version control systems such as Git is advantageous.

SQL Consultant Application Process

This is a 6 month contract requirement with a start date ASAP; CV's are currently being considered and interviews are taking place from 11th June 2024. The interview process will be 2 stage and candidates will need to be available in no more than 4 weeks in order to be considered.
