About the Role


We have an exciting opportunity for a commercial and passionate individual with a background in commercial finance to play a key role in the continued expansion of FootballCo. The role will be a key finance partner / point of contact for the key management stakeholders and will primarily be responsible for providing best in class finance support to enable effective planning and refinement of the core business.

What You'll be doing


  • Owning and running the budgeting and reforecasting (Quarterly) process, for Content, Product & Engineering, Insights & Growth and Head Office departments. Will require working closely with key stakeholders in each area.
  • Assisting VP Commercial Finance in preparing monthly Management Accounts to be reviewed by management, analysing financial performance against benchmarks and highlighting risks, opportunities, and insights
  • Assisting the VP Commercial Finance in preparing board presentations
  • Working closely with the Content, Product & Engineering, Insights & Growth and Head Office leads to model out further deployment of investment or ad-hoc analysis
  • Involvement with any due diligence for potential M&A activity and contributing to determining potential cost synergies
  • Assisting stakeholders with respect to evaluating new opportunities and contracts, including financial modelling in alignment with best practice
  • Working with the Project Management, Sales and Content teams to ensure the Campaign Cost budgets are constantly analysed, forecasted and reviewed
  • Being a key member of the FootballCo Finance team in understanding the financial results and suite of business KPIs and using them to play a role in driving performance and maximising opportunities – this will include helping to build a data-lead approach to content performance evaluation
  • Playing a key role in the creation of the annual budget for Product & Engineering, Content, Insights & Growth and Head Office costs and challenging / obtaining buy-in from non-finance teams on the forecast inputs and KPIs that drive financial outputs
  • Playing a key role in the establishment and maintenance of a strong culture of governance and control across the business
  • Owning and maintaining a contract log and regularly completing a cost audit to help drive efficiencies across the organisation
  • Conducting regular post implementation reviews to continually provide insights and learnings for future investments
  • Working closely with the Financial Accounting team to drive continuous improvements in the delivery of finance services to key management stakeholders


What You Have


  • Finance experience, preferably in a large-scale business in: media, tech or sport industries
  • Excellent communication and organisational / collaboration skills with ability to interact with those outside of finance to deliver preferred outcomes
  • Ability to partner with the business across a range of disciplines, including marketing, partnerships, pricing, direct costs and other revenue-driving functions
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic/business acumen
  • Pro-active and have an ability to operate in ambiguous and changing situations with multiple (at times conflicting) stakeholders to deliver results to meet deadlines
  • Awareness of off and on-line marketing methodologies
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA Newly Qualified
  • Degree educated & excellent understanding of finance, with previous exposure to financial reporting, technical accounting and management accounting


Desirable


  • 3+ years Finance experience within a fast-growing / global business
  • Knowledge of finance systems and exposure to Business Intelligence software and an understanding of financial modelling techniques
