Main Function of Role:

The Federated Hermes Infrastructure team, part of the wider Private Markets platform, manages over £2bn of infrastructure commitments via the flagship Federated Hermes Diversified Infrastructure fund (“FHDIF”) and various other mandates.Historically, we have invested on behalf of clients primarily in mature UK infrastructure assets that aim to generate stable, inflation-linked long term income with low to moderate volatility. Our portfolio consists of large, direct investments in 11 different companies across a broad range of infrastructure sectors.

The Infrastructure team has a market leading reputation for its responsible investment activities.


The role is primarily within the Investment team, but working closely with the Asset Management and Investor Relations teams. The main activities in the role will include:


  • to all aspects of origination and execution activities
  • asset management activities across the existing portfolio
  • analysis and review of financial models to support the independent valuation process
  • of data/analysis to support business development activities

We are looking for a candidate with an interest in infrastructure investment, who enjoys building meaningful relationships, working in an agile and dynamic manner and is open to taking on progressively more responsibility for delivering team objectives.


The role will require substantial interaction with the existing investment team (currently 13 investment professionals and 2 executive assistants), as well as the Hermes GPE COO Office (Finance, Tax and Legal).


What are the tasks and responsibilities of the role?


A. Analyse Infrastructure Investment Opportunities:

  1. Contribute towards the research, analysis and evaluation of a variety of infrastructure investment opportunities, including early-stage opportunity screening through to contributing towards the overall detailed assessment of priority investments
  2. Contribute towards overall valuation analysis, including feeding into the building of financial models in addition to assessing key assumptions and sensitivities
  3. Prepare precedent transactions and comparable company analysis
  4. Prepare presentation of past company performance and growth trends, in addition to wider macro regulatory and industry factors, and other relevant topics as required
  5. Assist in preparing and documenting investment reviews and recommendations to the Infrastructure Investment Commitment (IIC) and/or investment presentations to existing or prospective clients
  6. Attend and participate in IIC meetings including presenting to the IIC where appropriate


B. Assist with the execution of infrastructure investments, divestments and co-investments:

  • with the overall execution of Infrastructure investments, including
  • with third party advisers as appropriate
  • of key investment characteristics through research
  • with Hermes GPE COO Office and Client operations group (Risk & Compliance) with respect to new investments


C. Assist with Monitoring of infrastructure investments:

  1. Coordinate and work collaboratively with Hermes GPE COO Office and where relevant Client operations group (Risk & Compliance), as required, with respect to monitoring activities of selected existing investments and certain portfolio level activities
  2. Monitor financial and operational performance of selected infrastructure investments
  3. Inputting into reporting materials for the Investment and Valuation Committees
  4. Assisting in developing, monitoring and reporting of strategic asset management activities on specific assets
  5. Assist in preparing investment review updates for quarterly investor reporting
  6. Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial models to support the independent valuation process


D. Business development and co-investment solutions:

Support in the preparation of general marketing presentations and materials

  1. Assist in preparing investment specific materials (including populating and managing data room, presentations and investment analysis) to existing clients or potential co-investors
  2. Assist in capturing potential co-investor feedback and utilising market feedback to allocate future investment opportunities to potential co-investors on a more targeted basis
  3. Assist in managing customer relationship manager (CRM) systems


E. Team participation:

  1. Participate in and contribute to team meetings (including fortnightly origination meetings)
  2. Share knowledge by communicating openly and frequently with the team and coordinating and entering information into internal databases for both existing and prospective investments
  3. Assist in the development of the Associates in the team
  4. Attend and participate in Infrastructure Investment Committee meetings as required
  5. Other relevant duties and projects as assigned


Do you have the following experience?

  • experience in investment management, financial services, advisory or financial modelling role
