We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology.

We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.


You’ll help us make health happen by:

Your role as a Senior Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP is ensure that we provide the best quality service in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients whilst ensuring that a high quality, cost effective service is delivered to patients and consultant users.

You’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, being flexible and supporting with shared tasks.



  • Provide assistance to the consultants during all surgical procedures whether under local/regional/sedation/general anaesthetic.
  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • Prepare patients for clinical / operative procedures and provide immediate post-operative care.
  • Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Anaesthetic Team Leader, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective channels of communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate in multi-professional development, audits and implement actions identified from quality initiatives.
  • Help motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for department staff.
  • Work with the Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses, Matron and Human Resources Department in the recruitment, selection, appointment and retention of staff.
  • Participate in appraisals and the setting of objectives for junior staff in the department to enable them to achieve optimal effectiveness and to understand their contribution to the department and service.
  • Ensure that appropriate written induction programmes are available and utilised for all new staff within the department.
  • Ensure that staff attend and assist in training where appropriate on mandatory training sessions and help to maintain accurate records of these.
  • Be proactive in the risk assessment, management, clinical incident reporting and management of complaints.


Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • You must hold a relevant ODP / Anaesthetic Nurse qualification.
  • Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics.
  • Ability to deliver high standards of care.
  • 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working in private sector (desirable)
