Our role :

You will have a high level of autonomy and will produce appropriately formatted copy which is suitable for use across a range of media. You will work collaboratively with internal teams to add significant value - applying the benefit of your experience to guide projects, ensuring any copy produced by you and your team is appropriate to the brief and of a high quality.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • You will work with the Accounts team to front client relations as appropriate, ensuring the Copy function is always represented appropriately. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities to drive new business activity.
  • You will also mentor team members and take overall responsibility for their involvement, actively progressing their abilities and developing them for greater responsibility.
  • Input to the development of strategy, advising on all scientific elements to ensure a response that is appropriate to the needs of the target audience, enhancing credibility
  • Be instrumental in tracking award-winning work and trends, pushing craft to enhance the effectiveness of the work we produce
  • Take the scientific lead in client meetings, workshops and internal discussions in relations to communications strategy around a range of therapy areas
  • Draw on knowledge to ensure accuracy and appropriateness in tactical project elements as they are produced. Evaluate and approve materials ensuring that scientific content is accurate and compliant
  • Produce and edit copy into the correct format for use across various media as appropriate, drawing on your experience to consider the suitability of UX and project flow
  • Understand the clients’ needs both now and, in the future, and develop an offering to suit this
  • Continually develop your writing style, honing approach, and ability to tailor copy tone, enabling effective communication with a range of audiences
  • Take the lead on client brand activity, be the ‘go-to’ writer across a number of clients and therapy areas
  • Understand the requirements of other teams in terms of how copy should be best delivered – proactively seek to improve process wherever possible
  • Support the development of new business through involvement in proposals, workshops, and pitches. Acting as lead for the copy team, contribute to the development of pitch activity, and conduct pitch presentations as part of a team to support new business activity
  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within the agreed timescale.
  • Managing others and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • What we’d like to see from you:

  • 7 + years experience as a Medical writer in an agency setting ideally across creative medical writing
  • Experience working with global pharmaceutical companies and creative brief's
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • A solid scientific background and experience working on a number of therapeutic areas
  • Learning and understanding new therapy areas quickly and comprehensively, inspiring confidence with the client
  • Proven experience leading and developing a team of medical writers
  • Understanding of clinical research, drug development process, and industry guidelines and regulations
