Scala Developer in UK

We are seeking a Mid or Senior level Scala Developer to spearhead the enhancement of our Trading Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable trading platforms using Scala and Java technologies.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including traders, quants, and other developers to gather requirements and implement solutions.
• Optimizing trading algorithms and infrastructure components to ensure low-latency execution and high availability.
• Integrating third-party systems and APIs to enhance trading platform functionality.
• Implementing unit tests and automated testing frameworks to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Troubleshooting production issues and providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members.
• Staying current with industry trends and best practices in trading platform development and financial technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven experience as a Scala/Java Developer in the investment banking or financial services industry, specifically with trading platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Scala and Java programming languages, including multi-threading and concurrency concepts.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Akka or Spark.
• Solid understanding of financial instruments, trading workflows, and market data.
• Familiarity with messaging protocols (e.g., FIX, MQTT) and data serialization formats (e.g., JSON, Protobuf).
• Proficiency in using version control systems (e.g., Git) and build tools (e.g., Maven, SBT).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the financial industry
