The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) is seeking a bright, confident, professional and proactive individual to join their team in the critical position of Receptionist.
As the voice of private capital in the UK, the BVCA has been advocating for the UK's private equity and venture capital industry for four decades.
The association actively represents a diverse community of long-term investors and facilitates communication between institutional investors, fund managers, companies, advisers, and service providers.
The BVCA supports its members to help companies thrive and achieve their long-term objectives, both in terms of economic growth and societal impact
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for all guests to the BVCA office.

You will be a proactive individual who likes to be busy and seeks opportunities to improve and enhance the way things are done.
This role really is at the heart of the BVCA and you will enjoy building your internal network to support the smooth running of our office.
Role and responsibilities
Reception
- Ensure reception is covered and visitors are greeted in a professional and courteous manner
- Answer switchboard calls, screen and direct calls, and record messages as needed
- Maintain the tidy appearance of the meeting rooms and reception area
- Maintain BVCA email inbox and reply daily to queries received
- Prepare meeting rooms for meetings and provide refreshments as needed
- Provide AV support for internal and external meetings
- Responsible for maintaining office security and communicating with the building security guards if needed
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail
- Maintain central diaries for the organisation
General
- Take a leading role in office social activities and wellbeing initiatives. Active member of the social committee
- Basic administrative and office support including being a member of the administration team and supporting the Operations team with arranging office repairs and ordering stationery and supplies
- Support with data analysis, producing letters and powerpoint presentations (training will be given)
- Active member of employee voice groups to represent wider perspectives
- Assist with customer, Member, and supplier queries, including basic website support
- Maintain filing systems, archives, and other databases
- Ad-hoc support to other internal departments including mailings, data entry, etc.
Requirements
Essential Skills/Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner
- Strong relationship builder with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders and maintain a calm and professional manner
- Collaborative team player with demonstrable experience of supporting teams to achieve positive outcomes
- Good academic credentials
- Reception experience in a professional environment
- Excellent organisation, customer service and prioritisation skills with a keen attention to detail
- Willingness to ‘roll your sleeves up’ and get involved
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
