We are working alongside a leading Main Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across the North West. They are currently seeking an experienced Quantity surveyor to join the team for a significant Build scheme in Manchester.

Role Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the cost aspects of the construction projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to advance their career and take on more responsibility in a senior position. You will be responsible for ensuring the financial success of projects, working closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Oversee all cost management aspects of the project from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within budget.
  • Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
  • Tendering: Manage the tendering process, including preparing and issuing tender documents, evaluating submissions, and negotiating contracts.
  • Contract Administration: Administer and manage construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts, valuations, and progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage potential risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Subcontractor Management: Oversee the procurement and management of subcontractors, ensuring performance and compliance with project requirements.
  • Client Liaison: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Variation and Change Control: Manage variations and change control processes, ensuring accurate documentation and agreement of costs.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

    • Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven of experience in quantity surveying, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Office, cost management software).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is advantageous
