Salary: £37,487 - £50,527 (depending on experience) + 25 days hols + 8 BH + Pension

Location: Bradford, Buttershaw (BD6)

Purpose of the role

  • Provides contract and commercial support associated with project's lifecycle from concept phase to closeout and benefits realisation phase, projects range from £250k to £10M 

  • Develops contract strategies - projects 

  • Supports Internal procurement – mini competition and direct negotiation 

  • Supports contract administrators 

  • Assures scope, contracts, and pricing in accordance with the conditions of contract, ensuring that risk to the Client is managed and understood at each stage of the project 

  • Supports negotiations with contractors, seeking to add value and reduce cost. 

  • Internal disagreement management 

  • Lead on payment processing to ensure YW fulfils its payment obligations and assures the accuracy of Contractor’s applications 

  • Drive continuous improvement in business as usual; to actively seek out and take advantage of opportunities to streamline and improve commercial processes

    YW Commercial Services

    The Commercial Services department is responsible for sourcing and managing all of our contracted supplier relationships and supplier performance.

    This includes procurement, contract management, contract administration, commercial assurance and accounts payable.

    Programme Delivery Commercial Team

    Programme Delivery focuses on the creation and delivery of key operational assets It is a complex and critical part of the delivery of our long-term plans.

    This can range in size and complexity but typically involves projects such as water catchment assets, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations and other water and wastewater network infrastructure. 

    These projects deliver supply resilience, environmental benefits and other regulatory objectives which make a significant contribution to Yorkshire Water’s performance. 

    The Programme Delivery Commercial team form an internal partnership with Programme Delivery and support in providing contractual and commercial advice.

    We have significant scope for growing and developing the team and are seeking Quantity Surveyors and other professionals who have experience in commercial roles who are up to the challenge. 

    Yorkshire Water welcome applicants based on both their experience and qualifications.

    We will support experienced candidates, financially and by way of dedicated development time, who are seeking to gain professional qualifications such as MRICS and MCICES. 

    Knowledge and Skills Required

    Essential

  • Professional Qualification in Engineering (CEng), Construction Management (MCIOB), Quantity Surveying (MRICS) or relevant construction industry related experience and qualification.
  • Experienced in managing key aspects of NEC contracts in a commercial environment.
  • Understanding of commercial contract management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Understanding of compiling, assessment, interpretation and communication of complex data.
  • Able to communicate and engage people at all levels cross business and external.
  • Clearly demonstrates ethical values and behaviours.
  • Can work in a team and manage own workload.
  • Desirable

  • Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs.
  • Experience of corporate software systems.
  • Experience of working in a regulated industry and regulatory reporting.
  • Understanding of Project Management.
  • NEC suit of contracts – training.
