Procurement Manager - Highways

Location - Solihull

What you will be doing:

You will work on our Infrastructure project and frameworks Ideally, you will be based locally, although we are open to subsiding relocation.

Supporting both pre-contract and delivery teams, our Procurement Managers are responsible for the timely and advantageous procurement of subcontracts and major materials on their respective projects, to include the following. 

  • Liaison with pre-contract and senior teams to agree the appropriate packaging strategies and approach to external spend for their project (including continual review and challenge in consideration of wider bulk efficiencies and changing market dynamics / resource scarcity etc) 
  • Development and ownership of procurement control schedules, leading weekly procurement meetings to co-ordinate with internal teams and ensure that procurement activities are delivered against programme and budget
  • Leading and undertaking the full ITT process through to contract award, including pre-qualification, evaluation of 'best value', co-ordination of both commercial and qualitative assessments, credit checks, negotiation of terms and conditions, production of recommendation papers and securing relevant approvals
  • Responsible for performance management of suppliers and subcontractors on their projects, ensuring that scores are captured and that both good and poor performance is addressed and actioned appropriately, with input to wider trend analysis and improvements 
  • Acting as a source of support and credible procurement expertise and market knowledge for both pre-contract and delivery teams, co-ordinating with material and plant buyers and supporting wider Group procurement activities 
  • Being an advocate for the procurement function in general, assuring process compliance and seeking opportunities for improvement / innovation as appropriate
  • Representing their projects at specific ‘meet the buyer’ and wider networking events, with client-facing interactions if and as required by the project
  • About You:

  • Ideally candidates will be MCIPS qualified (or working towards their CIPS qualifications)
  • Ideally candidates will have previous experience working in the Highways sector
