Job Title: Procurement Lead


Location: North of England, Yorkshire & the Midlands


The Procurement Lead is responsible for leading and managing the direct procurement activities for the organization, with a focus on heavy engineering, capital expenditures (CapEx), and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO). This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and procurement process optimization to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for Direct Procurement, CapEx, and MRO spend.
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers and products to meet the company’s evolving needs.
  • Execution of strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as necessary.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure the best terms and conditions for the company.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Analyse market trends and procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on procurement performance, including cost savings, supplier performance, and risk management.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient operations.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., MBA, CIPS) is preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within Heavy Engineering, commodity casting, forging, machined component parts, CapEx, and MRO procurement.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
  • Extensive experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Results-driven with a strong focus on achieving targets and delivering value.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
