Job description

Permanent, Full Time with some flexibility in terms of working pattern, although there is a requirement for you to work on Friday each week.

Bristol City Council’s vision is to play a leading role in driving a city of hope and aspiration where everyone can share in its success. To achieve that vision, the council prioritises and delivers a number of programmes and projects each year that it must deliver to time, cost and quality.

We are seeking a Portfolio Support Officer to join our Portfolios, Programmes & Projects (PPP) Service management team to provide support and guidance in relation to the day-to-day governance and management of our Capital Portfolio.

You will be part of a Capital Portfolio Management Office (PMO) team consisting of a mixture of dedicated (hub) team members and individuals working out in PMO spokes (or satellite offices) across the organisation’s Capital Programme. Supporting these teams – as well as the delivery teams - you will support the development of new PMO services in response to operational demand and support the roll out and embedding of this practice.

Being part of this team will require a need to adopt an approach of continuous improvement, flexing and maturing in line with best practice, but also be responsive to direct learning from our live capital delivery programmes and projects.

This role will also support the reporting across the Capital programmes and projects, ensuring that we – as a service – are providing valuable insights into delivery both for our own learning as well as supporting organisational decision making.

Bristol City Council is a great place to work. We’re a fantastic team, proud of what we achieve and looking forward to welcoming people to share in that.

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information.

Why Bristol City Council?

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.

Join us and you’ll receive a generous rewards package including flexible working and flexi-time, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
